Title: REFLECTIVE CRACKING IN ASPHALT PAVEMENTS ON CEMENT BOUND ROAD BASES UNDER SWEDISH CONDITIONS
Abstract: Thin asphalt surfacings on cement bound roadbases would be a technically and economically good solution, if the risk of reflective cracking could be proved to be insignificant. Test sections with surfacing thicknesses of 35 and 100 mm work well after seven years. Crack mechanisms such as tensile fatigue and tensile yield are discussed. Trials are made to estimate fatigue life and risk of tensile yield. Recently observed cracks at the test site can be explained by an increasing obvious risk for tensile yield.
