Critical acclaim for her talent began with the publication of her first novel, Wise Blood, in 1952 and her reputation has grown enormously since her death. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of her birth, many of today's most important writers have come together to offer original tributes attesting to the importance of O'Connor to their own creative life and work.Flannery O'Connor (1925-1964) was born in Savannah and began writing and illustrating short narratives during grade school. She attended Georgia State College for Women the Iowa Writer's Workshop. Stricken with Lupus at age 25, O'Connor returned to Milledgeville, where she lived with her mother at Andalusia until her early death at age 39. She is recognized as a master of the short story form and has won numerous awards including the National Book Award, numerous O. Henry Prize Awards.Read More
