Abstract: THE STEPS BEING TAKEN TO DEVELOP MORE EFFICIENT AIRPORTS IN ORDER TO SHORTEN TOTAL TRIP TIME ARE OUTLINED. AIRPORTS MUST BE ENLARGED, BOARDING GATES MUST BE SPREAD OUT, AND THE PARKING SPACE MUST BE EXPANDED. THESE CHANGES INVOLVE LONGER TRAVEL DISTANCES WITHIN THE TERMINAL AREA. BASIC TRANSPORT SYSTEMS CONSIDERED ARE THE CONTINUOUS TYPE (PRIVATE CARS OR TAXIS), AND THE BATCHING TYPE (BUSES AND GUIDED SYSTEMS). BAGGAGE HANDLING, FIRE PROTECTION, SECURITY, MONITORING OF DISPERSED EQUIPMENT, AND CENTRAL CONTROL ARE DISCUSSED. /IAA/
