Title: FUTURE MANAGEMENT OF THE STATION ACCESS ROAD SYSTEM IN THE KIMBERLEY REGION OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Abstract: This paper highlights the major recommendations contained in a document which was published in 1981 entitled Report on Investigation of Station Access Roads in the Kimberley. The report was prepared by the author of this paper following a request to the Commissioner of Main Roads, Western Australia from the Kimberley Regional Development Committee for an investigation into the region's road system with particular regard to station access roads. The recommendations deal with future management issues including recognition of the three essential components of the annual works programme and the need for sound engineering practice and positive council policy to increase the effectiveness of roadworks.
