Title: Modularity in Language: Constructional and Categorial Mismatch in Syntax and Semantics
Abstract: Modularity in Language is the first systematic study of regularities in idiosyncratic complex clauses in Japanese and English. It establishes a general framework for the investigation of idiosyncrasies and exceptions in grammar in a multi-modular approach to grammar and in the process sheds light on the architecture of grammar. The book is aimed at those interested in grammatical theories in general, the parallel architecture of grammar, Constructional Grammar, the syntax/semantics interface, and Japanese linguistics.
