Title: CONCRETE - THE PREDOMINANT MATERIAL FOR ROAD BRIDGES
Abstract: Out of the total number of road bridges in Sweden, 75% are made of concrete. Those built during the last five years are almost without exception concrete bridges. There is more than one reason for this development. One is that the number of wide span bridges has been considerably reduced lately. Of today's production 80% have a span shorter than 20 M. The structural design and economy of these bridges are briefly mentioned. Trends regarding choice of material, structural engineering and construction methods are described along with aesthetic aspects and environmental considerations. /TRRL/
