Today, two principal methods have been established for the panoramic radiography. The first method is based on a tomographic technique. This method is used for the routine panoramic radiography of the jaws. The second method for panoramic radiography is based on an intra-orally placed X-ray tube technique. This radiography is called panagraphy. Panagraphy is not so popular for panoramic radiography. In this study, the usefulness of the panagraph is discussed clinically. The radiograph obtained with the panagraph is characterized by a magnified radiographic image. The anterior teeth are generally less enlarged than the posterior teeth. The anterior teeth are radiographed clearly and geometrical distortion of this region is not remarkable. As another advantage, this method has no superimposition of the other facial skeletons on the jaws. The panagraph should be used for a qualitative diagnosis in the region of anterior teeth, but is not suitable for a quantitative diagnosis of the jaws.Read More
