Title: A THEORETICAL STUDY ON HIGH SPEED HULL FORMS (APPLICATION FOR PRACTICAL HULL FORMS)
Abstract: In the design of high speed displacement type ships, it is most important to reduce resistance. The faster a ship cruises, the large the wave making resistance becomes, therefore designers develop hull forms which give small wave making resistance. Spray resistance is also large at high speed and it is know from recent studies that there is water head resistance in a ship which has a vertical stem and a transom stern. Hull forms which give minimum resistance are unconventional and unrealistic. This paper describes a practical hull form with small spray at the bow.
