Title: Evaluation of marginal base materials in the south west of NSW: summary paper
Abstract: In the RTA Wagga Wagga Zone Office area there is a scarcity of suitable pavement materials conforming to the specification, particularly in their ability to meet the shear strength criteria. At the same time there is some evidence that particular non-conforming materials have performed well on the road. These marginal materials have been assessed in a laboratory testing programme to identify moisture/compaction/shear behaviour. As a result of this programme, the Zone has adopted modified compaction as a standard for noncontract road construction.
