Title: A Technique that Gains Speed and Accuracy in the Minimax Solution of Overdetermined Linear Equations
Abstract: An extension to the exchange algorithm for solving over-determined linear equations is proposed. The new technique chooses the equation to leave the reference on each iteration in a way that often reduces the total number of iterations and that lessens the danger of having to solve a square system of linear equations with a nearly singular matrix. In other words it keeps the pivots of a linear programming calculation away from zero. It can help most of the computer algorithms that are available for the minimax solution of overdetermined equations.
