Abstract: A theoretical investigation is made of a suggested algorithm for the control of traffic at an isolated intersection. The algorithm is represented by control equations depending linearly on the lengths of the queues. It is shown that the control is stable until the intersection is saturated and that with a proper choice of control constants the average delay and maximum individual delay can be reduced to a reasonable minimum (A).
