Title: An Analysis of Means in a Three-Way Factorial
Abstract: Traditional analysis of variance, emphasizing significance tests, covers only one aspect of the analysis of an experiment. The information content, particularly of factorially designed studies, can be expanded markedly by a multi-comparative plotting of means. Trends, curvilinearities and configurations of interactions can thus be demonstrated. The inclusion of decision lines, based on methods suggested by Ott, Schilling end Nelson for the analysis of means, separates out significant effects. A detailed example, involving a three-variable full factorial plan, illustrates the methods and highlights the information gained.
