Title: POSSIBLE USE OF AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING IN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION
Abstract: AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO ILLUSTRATE THE POSSIBLE USES AND LIMITS OF AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING IN TRAFFIC SURVEILLANCE AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION BY MEANS OF THE STATE OF DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING, AND TO SHOW A DIRECT LINK BETWEEN THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS. THIS DATA PROCESSING PROVIDES A MEANS OF HAVING CONTINUOUS SURVEYS OF ACCIDENT RATES AVAILABLE, OF DISTRIBUTING INFORMATION IN THE SHORT TERM AND OF RAPIDLY UNDERTAKING MULTI-DIMENSIONAL EVALUATIONS. TABLES CONTAIN CURRENT INFORMATION ON ACCIDENT TRENDS RELATED TO CONSEQUENCES AND ACCIDENT SITES, MAIN ACCIDENT CAUSES CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO CONSEQUENCES AND CATEGORIES, THE PERCENTAGES OF THE MAIN CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS RELATED TO ALL TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, MEANS OF ELIMINATING THE MAIN CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS, DAYS AND TIMES WHEN THE MAIN CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS OCCUR, HIT AND RUN ACCIDENTS AND EDUCATIONAL MEASURES.
