Title: VISUAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OF MINITRAM GUIDEWAYS
Abstract: The Transport and Road Research Laboratory Program, announced in April 1973, envisaged a comprehensive and detailed investigation of the implications of a group rapid transit development. The first phase, comprising feasibility and supporting studies, was completed in the summer and autumn of 1974. This paper is based largely on the feasibility study, Minitram in Sheffield. It deals with scale and proportion, and design and location, in the assimilation of group rapid transit (GRT) guideways in urban centers; from the earliest days, this aspect of the subject has been emphasized by the Department of the Environment in its sponsored research.
