Abstract: This technical report describes the Truck Driving Simulator located at the Pennsylvania State University's Pennsylvania Transportation Institute. This low-cost simulator (a Mack Trucks cab mounted on a 6-degrees-of-freedom motion base) aids researchers in human factors, industrial and manufacturing engineering, and civil and mechanical engineering to conduct related experiments in safe conditions and for a reasonable cost. Driver response and attentiveness, as well as traffic avoidance, are studied and simulator-based training on heavy vehicles can be conducted. The simulator's vehicle dynamic model, including software and hardware, as well as its motion system and cabin, are also described.
