Title: REHABILITATION OF THE STEEL GIRDER DECK OF AN ELEVATED EXPRESSWAY
Abstract: This paper communicates experience gained from four years of rehabilitation work carried out on the steel girder deck of the F.G. Gardiner Expressway in Toronto, Canada. It places the emphasis on the elimination of expansion joints between the simply supported deck spans. The reasons for the strategy are explained, and construction details for new continuous joints as well as expansion joints are provided. Briefly described are other aspects of rehabilitation work, and essential cost figures are provided.
