Title: THE DEVELOPMENT OF MULTIMODAL TRAVELLER INFORMATION
Abstract: The Dutch Ministry wants to stimulate a change in the travel pattern of travelers; from individual transport by car towards public transport. In between these two modes there's also the possibility of a multi-modal approach. A travel pattern witch combines public transport with individual transport. This approach presents fewer obstacles for travelers using individual transport only. The Ministry expects that, when a fair comparison can be made between travel times and travel costs of transport by car and public transport, the public transport alternative will become more favorable. Because the market was not developing it, the Ministry has commissioned the development of a multimodal traveler information system to be operated commercially. The system must provide individual travelers with objective information on the basis of which they can compare the pros and cons of the different transport modes or a combination of the different transport modes
