Title: Temperature Distribution Prediction Model for Asphalt Pavements
Abstract: Thermal environmental conditions, to which asphalt pavements are continuously exposed, determine the complicated distribution of pavement temperature field. In this paper, influence mechanism of environmental conditions on pavement temperature field and regional difference of pavement temperature field were analyzed. It is suggested that air temperature and solar radiation are principal factors that affect the pavement temperature, whose effect embodies characteristics of hysteresis and accumulation. Pavement temperature is consisted of considerably stable base temperature affected by long-term variation of climate and periodical variation caused by short-term change of weather. Regional difference of meteorological conditions results in different base temperature, which is the primary causation of regional difference of pavement temperature. Through regression analysis between the measured pavement temperature data and meteorological data from weather stations in several regions, prediction models on temperature distribution in asphalt pavements are developed respectively. Monthly historical average air temperature is introduced into prediction models as regional correction coefficient to reflect the regional deference in pavement temperature. All prediction models have comprehensive applicability and excellent accuracy.
