Title: BRT Stations: What Matters? What’s Important?
Abstract: This paper describes how much has been written about the necessity of treating bus rapid transit (BRT) as an integrated system of several elements, including service plan, vehicles, running way, intelligent transportation systems and stations. Until very recently, however, little research or analysis has been conducted on the relative impacts of each of these elements. This paper will address the design features of BRT stations and their impacts on overall system performance, particularly with respect to ridership and economic development. Examples of good station design will also be presented in the paper.
