Title: DEVELOPMENT OF A FREEWAY SYSTEM IN LOS ANGELES METROPOLITAN AREA
Abstract: The article describes the freeway construction program in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. An increase in population and in automobile usage led to increased traffic problems and congestion. A solution to the problem is the construction of grade separated highways or freeways within the area to allow for rapid transit of both automobiles and mass transit. Other changes include redesigning some surface streets, express buses on the freeways, and perhaps rail rapid transit with rail lines constructed in the freeway medians.
