Title: ASPHALT CONCRETE MIXES WITH GRAVEL AND CRUSHED STONE AGGREGATE
Abstract: In the san salvador-arroyo yerua section of te entre rios prov. National highway no 18, it was necessary , because of unfavourable conditions to change a gravel-lime subbase for a hot asphalt mix subbase in order to allow construction to take place. To that end, asphalt concrete mixes containing the following aggregate: crushed basalt, gravel and silica sand were studied. Four types of mixes were tested with the Marshall method and their characteristics and corresponding costs are presented. Gravel being cheaper than crushed stone aggregates it is possible to obtain suitable mixes of both materials of a quality practically equivalent to that of conventional crushed aggregate concrete asphalt mixtures.
