Title: THE MODERNISATION AND ELECTRIFICATION OF THE KOWLOON-CANTON RAILWAY (BRITISH SECTION)
Abstract: Expansion of capacity of this line has involved double tracking and high-voltage a-c electrification preliminary to introducing a vastly expanded suburban service as well as handling increased through traffic from China. Standardized bridge and underpasses are used; new stations and tunnels are under construction along the 35-km railway where traffic has been maintained during the project. Automatic fare collection will be introduced with the opening of new services scheduled for late 1982.
