Title: Recession Re-Ignites Fears for Future of European Railfreight
Abstract: Booz & Co.'s annual European Rail Freight Survey is examined. The study suggests that there are long-term economic concerns even deeper than the declined demand suggested for 60% of European rail freight industry customers over the next year. To ensure that there is not a long-term reduction in rail's inland freight market share due to the recession, some governments, such as that of Switzerland, are taking action. Topics discussed include pricing, wagonload traffic, customer service, and rail freight reputation
