Abstract: The British government review of the domestic railway industry operation, along with its conclusions and proposed measures designed to improve rail freight services are discussed in this article. Rail freight operators have expressed satisfaction with the proposed legislation that is designed to attract more freight from road to rail. The greater deregulation is seen to lead to heavier competition that will serve to boost the size of the market rather than have any impact on operators' market share.
