Title: The hidden culture : folklore in Australian sopciety
Abstract: This is the first serious investigation of Australian folklore. It establishes a framework within which a coherent view of social development as expressed in folklore can be traced, and looks at the forms and common settings of folklore. While citing examples from the past, Seal emphasises that folklore is being created continually, and provides numerous contemporary instances. Graham Seal is one of the few Australians formally qualified in folklore studies, and his book provides a methodology for collecting and studying folklore.
