ovincial Jose de Acosta (1540-1600), SJ, en la doctrina de Juli como
laboratorio de experimentacion jesuita para la futura evangelizacion de los
indios del Altiplano surandino. Para llevar a cabo la empresa decidio enviar
a sus hombres mas virtuosos, entre
los que destaco el
jesuita extr
emeno Diego
Martinez (1543-1626), SJ, que compartia su labor apostolica y el “modo
particular de proceder de la Compania”. Por el otro, demostrar que dicho
interes cuestiona la opinion comunmente aceptada por algunos historiado-
res de que el Virrey Francisco de Toledo (1568-1581) obligo a los jesuitas a
