The process air ranged from pure N 2 to 50 vol% O 2 + 50 vol% N 2 and the gas preheating temperatures used were from 500 to 1100°C. Desulphurization was found to be somewhat weaker than with a tetrahedrite concentrate. The removal of antimony followed the same pattern as in the case of tetrahedrite proceeding, however, a little further in the most favourable conditions examined at 900-1100 °C with 1-2 vol% O 2 in the process air. Earlier results reported from roasting experiments concerning the enhancement of the antimony removal kinetics in the presence of arsenic, as well as the retardation of antimony vapourization in the presence of silver were both confirmed in the dynamic processing conditions prevailing in the suspension smelting of sulphidic materialsRead More
