Abstract: In the analysis of monazite sand concentrates, the uranium is separated from thorium and the rare earths by precipitating the latter as oxalates from sulfuric acid solution. The uranium is separated from the other elements by an ion exchange procedure prior to colorimetric or polarographic determination. Thorium is separated from the rare earths by the classical iodate method and weighed as oxide. The rare earths are determined by a difference method. (auth)
