Title: Cry freedom : no easy walk to Zambia's economic independence in the 21st Century
Abstract: Zambia's socio-economic and political history is well documented. Th ere was the pre-independence period to 1964, when economic, industrial, and formal administrative activity was still characterized by insignificant-almost non-existent-indigenous / local participation. Th is area was the exclusive preserve of the private, white-settler minority. But as Muzandu (1985) notes, several factors conjoined at independence in 1964 to create favorable conditions for increased local participation.
