Title: ‘The Mujahid’s Call’ by Naveed Qamar
Abstract: Abstract This chapter features the author’s translation of Naveed Qamar’s 2001 pamphlet titled Mujahid ki Azaan (‘The Mujahid’s Call’). Qamar is the former spokesperson for the student wing of Markaz-ud-Dawah-wal-Irshad Pakistan, which were published in Zarb-e-Tayyaba. The various essays in this pamphlet inveigh upon numerous issues in the Pakistani education system which have served collectively to lead Muslims astray. This pamphlet targets college students who are attending secular schools, and their parents. ‘The Mujahid’s Call’ draws a direct link between a student, who might be ostracized for a sanctimonious attitude, and the persecution Muhammad had to deal with in Mecca, according to the traditional accounts. This pamphlet directly addresses college students who are attending secular schools, and their parents. Whereas many of the organization’s publications are proselytization tools, this pamphlet assumes that the consumer of the text is a committed proselytizer himself. This allows the author to dispense with efforts at conversion and instead exposits how the aspiring jihadi acolyte should organize his daily life.
