Abstract: Climate impacts the function of forest ecosystems and plays a major role in forest health. Climate and forests are inherently linked. Climate change can affect the forest productivity both directly and indirectly. These changes are having significant influence on the world's forests and the forest sector, which acts as both a cause and an effect of our changing climate, e.g., through longer growing seasons, shifts in insect species ranges, forest loss, and degradation. Besides direct effects, climate change indirectly can also change the composition and dynamics of the entire forest ecosystem. One of the promising solutions to address the effect of climate change is forests. This chapter introduces all the facts related to climate impact on forests and their productivity. In this chapter, various other related topics has also been discussed, which mainly include UN convention on climate change—NATCOM initiatives, Kyoto Protocol, National Action Plan on Climate Change, Green India Mission, Indian Network for Climate Change Assessment (INCCA), State Action Plans on Climate Change.
