The field has grown along with primatology in general from description through explanation to experimentation, but it still lacks a cohesive framework. In this paper I review the major sources of data on aging in non-human primates, and identify three themes within primatology with direct or indirect significance to human aging. These themes are also evolutionary in nature and may help to define a true “primate gerontology.” They are: behavior and physiology; nutrition and aging; and life history.Read More
