Abstract: Abstract Dear Thomas, Long ago we began by comparing Theism and Basic Naturalism. We saw that Basic Naturalism, due to its relative simplicity, has a higher prior probability than Theism. But Basic Naturalism also has a very limited degree of explanatory power. To explain the presence of contingent beings, Naturalists must adopt Necessity Naturalism (or something similar). But Necessity Naturalism is almost as complicated as Theism. And hence, if we grant that Theistic mystical experience provides even a very modest amount of support for Theism, then Theism and Necessity Naturalism seem about equally justified.
