The specific university setting in which the study has been conducted has had a considerable influence on the aims of the research and the approach adopted. The focus of attention is the written production of foreign students, from a variety of language backgrounds, studying at postgraduate level at British universities. My particular interest in these students is twofold. First, I am involved in teaching on postgraduate courses in applied linguistics, evaluating native and non-native students’ written performance from an academic point of view, and, secondly, as a teacher of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) I am involved in the teaching of academic writing to non-native students from a wide range of subject areas.Read More
