Title: A few cases of suffix production of toponyms from Clarjet
Abstract: Geographical names formed with the suffixes -is||-is(i), -ish, -ev, -kh, -phkhe||-phkh in historical Klarjeti, the main distribution area of which is Chorokhi valley, is discussed in the study. Most of Klarjeti is in the Republic of Turkey (Borchkha, Murghuli and Artanujი), the other part is Mirveti, Kvemo Maradid and Kirnati, Georgia (Khelvachauri Municipality, Adjara). One part of Turkey's Klarjeti is Georgian, the other is Turkish-speaking. Georgian is heard in Borchkha and Murghuli districts in Klarjeti, Turkey. The research includes the entire Klarjeti (both Turkish and Georgian speaking) materials. As a result of the research of geographical names recorded by us and confirmed in historical or other sources, the following was highlighted: _ Names created with these suffixes: -ის//ის(ი), -იშ, -ევ, -ხ, -ფხე//-ფხ are an old layer in Georgian geographical nomenclature; _ -ish suffix is a trace of Kolkhuri in Chorokhi valley; _ It is important that in the toponymy of Klarjeti, the suffix -pkhe//-pkh appeared, which in the western Georgian linguistic space indicates a woman's origin (more like a family affiliation) and not a surname. _ In the toponymy of Klarjeti, production with the suffix -ev significantly expands the distribution area of ,,ev kilo“; _ -ev suffix -eb (as well as Kolkhuri -ef) is a substitute for the suffix. They must have belonged to different dialect circles. The discussed geographical names show that the largest part of the toponymy of Klarjeti is Georgian, which is an unmistakable proof that Klarjeti is a historical Georgian land, and the Klarjes are its aboriginal inhabitants. Traces of other cultures on the land of Klarjeti are a reflection of the coexistence of the Klarje people with other people, and not of belonging to other people of the Klarje land. Collection and analysis of Klarjeti toponymy is important from the point of view of linguistics, historical geography, dialogue of cultures and others.
