Title: Shaking table test of a novel Three-dimensional seismic isolation system with inclined rubber bearings
Abstract: This paper describes the results of shaking table tests performed on novel three-dimensional (3D) seismic isolation system, in which some lead rubber bearings (LRBs) were installed with inclination. The aim of this research is to verify the seismic performance of the proposed 3D isolator under earthquakes. The results of the static tests on the model 3D isolators are introduced in this paper as well as the response of two 3D isolated scaled models. Compared with the results of a horizontal isolated structure, the 3D isolated structures have close horizontal responses and significantly smaller vertical accelerations. This study clearly indicates that the proposed 3D isolator can effectively mitigate seismic risk of structures.
