Abstract: The irradiation methods used in external beam radiation therapy can be broadly classified into fixed gantry irradiation and moving gantry irradiation. In fixed gantry irradiation, the gantry is fixed and irradiated from one direction (single-port irradiation), two directions (two-port irradiation), or three or more directions (multiport irradiation). Conversely, moving gantry irradiation is a method in which the gantry rotates while performing irradiation. Irradiation from any direction or a combination of directions other than those shown in the figure is also possible. In general, the dose can be more concentrated on the target using a larger number of ports.
