Title: Early or Supplemental Parenteral Nutrition vs. Enteral Nutrition Alone in the Critically Ill
Abstract: Optimization of the nutritional status holds the key to favorable clinical outcomes in critically ill patients. Enteral nutrition alone may not meet nutritional targets in the early phase of critical illness. Parenteral nutrition has traditionally been considered to be associated with infective complications. Would initiation of early supplemental parenteral nutrition aiming to attain nutritional targets lead to improved clinical outcomes?
