A comparative analysis has been made between novel Modified Firefly Algorithm (MFA) and Bat Algorithm (BA) for mitigating the power losses in Radial Distribution System (RDS). Modified Firefly Algorithm (MFA) and Bat Algorithm (BA) are utilized for compensating DSTATCOM sizes in the radial distribution system. 14 samples total were used in this study, and the sample size was determined using Gpower for two groups. Based on the results obtained MFA produces better results than BA in terms of power loss reduction. The significant value (Two-tailed) obtained is 0.566 (p>0.05, statistically insignificant). MFA based optimization method provides significantly better power loss reduction (134.09kW) than BA based method (139.42kW).Read More
