Description: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a life threatening thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal and/or other organ system impairment due to chronic uncontrolled complement activation. CMV, commonly associated with infection in immunocompromised patients can be a rare trigger for aHUS.
