Title: Construction and Application of a Versatile Solid State Potentiostat
Abstract: The construction and application of a versatile solid state potentiostat involved choosing a suitable potentiostat and applying it to various separations. It was found that the potentiostat chosen for this purpose performed according to the published literature (4). A differentiating circuit was introduced into the solid state potentiostat. This circuit allowed the optimum decomposition potentials to be located while the potentiostat is simultaneously making the electrodeposition of the metal. The experimental evidence in this thesis is offered as proof of the merit of this method of analysis. The versatility of the potentiostat was successfully extended to the reduction of an organic compound. This is the first reported instrument successful in simultaneously determining the optimum decomposition potentials, and reduction of the desired substances by use of a solid state potentiostat incorporating a differentiating circuit.
