Title: Is the term ‘Sanatana Dharma’ more appropriate than the term ‘Hinduism’ to describe the Vedic tradition?
Abstract: The terms ‘Sanatana Dharma’ and ‘Hinduism’ are commonly regarded as synonymous to describe the Vedic tradition. This paper explores whether the term ‘Sanatana Dharma’ is more suitable than the term ‘Hinduism’ by examining the origins of both Hinduism and the principle of ‘Sanatana Dharma’. Based on the critical review of the evidence presented in the literature, this paper argues that ‘Sanatana Dharma’ is a more comprehensive term to describe the Vedic tradition than the term ‘Hinduism’.
