Title: Study on Discharge Coefficients of Drain Orifices in Closed Cavities
Abstract: The numerical method was used to simulate the discharge flow, and discharge coefficients were obtained. The main factors affecting the discharge coefficient of orifices were analyzed by dimensional analysis, and the empirical formulas for calculating discharge coefficient were fitted. The results show that when the water head height is less than 200mm, the discharge coefficient decreases with the increase of head height. When the water head height is more than 200mm, the discharge coefficient is stable around 0.61. The discharge coefficient with different thickness diameter ratio shows two different forms: the orifices with small thickness diameter ratio show thin orifice flow characteristics, and the discharge coefficient is about 0.6; the orifices with large thickness diameter ratio show thick orifice flow characteristics, and the discharge coefficient is about 0.8.
