The effective design and material selection of a vibration test fixture through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is the perseverance of this article. It is mandatory to examine the structural dynamic behavior of the components to withstand the excitation forces for proper functioning. During the test, a module is required to maintain the real-world mounting interface to transfer the forces from shaker table/exciter to the DUT is identified as vibration fixture. The design through FE method carried out to realize a vibration fixture to hold two DUTs at a time for testing with the appropriate material and compares the FEA results with the experimental test results. This should be resonance free in test range frequencies with the constraints on mass and size which depends on the shaker table specifications and through FEA, it is found to have the fundamental natural frequency well above the test range as required. Physical testing of the manufactured fixture is carried out and the FEA results are compared & verified with its test results for characteristics like resonance & amplification factor. The FEA results are functional to manufacture the innovated fixture of suitable material with minimum material wastage and cost effective. Also, it can hold two numbers of DUTs in a single test which result in time consumption and quick completion of vibration testing for the automobile application.Read More
