Title: Aerodynamic Design and Assessment of a Wind Turbine
Abstract: Wind energy is a relatively accessible clean energy that has a high conversion efficiency and development potential. However, wind turbines have a higher requirement in design than other energy generation methods. In order to attain the structure of an optimum blade design, techniques such as Blade element theory and the Betz model help us calculate the ideal length and shape of wind blades under certain environments. Compared to onshore wind turbines, offshore wind turbines achieve a larger wind speed and higher environmental stability. In this essay, we would choose an offshore location and conduct basic aerodynamic design procedures to obtain the parameters of an ideal wind turbine and calculate the energy yield of the turbine.
