Title: An Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Diethyl Ether as an Additive on the Performance of a Single Cylinder Diesel Engine
Abstract: The use of diethyl ether (DEE) as an oxygenated additive in a diesel engine is studied in this experiment. The effect of blending diethyl ether (DEE) with diesel at 6, 10, and 14% on the performance analysis of a single cylinder diesel engine running at a constant speed of 1500 rpm is proposed in this research. The results showed that adding DEE enhances brake thermal efficiency while significantly reducing brake specific fuel consumption and fuel flow rate. With a 14% blending of DEE with diesel, brake thermal efficiency provides optimal efficiency and low brake specific fuel consumption.
