Abstract: « Un monastère sans livres est une prairie sans fleurs ». Bibliothèque et études à l’abbaye de Murbach sous l’abbatiat de Barthélemy d’Andlau (1447-1476) – Abbé de Murbach (Haute-Alsace) de 1447 à 1476, Barthélemy d’Andlau fait restaurer la bibliothèque de ce prestigieux monastère et tente d’en faire un foyer intellectuel de qualité, dans l’esprit de l’humanisme naissant. Il s’entoure d’une équipe de lettrés, au premier rang desquels se trouve le bénédictin d’Augsbourg Sigismond Meisterlin, qui transcrit et collationne deux catalogues carolingiens et collecte un grand nombre de matériaux historiques. Ce travail de récolement va de pair avec une renaissance des études – le latin et l’hébreu – et la mise en place d’un réseau savant aux dimensions régionales. Il est en prise directe avec l’actualité et comporte un volet de « sciences politiques », illustré par le jurisconsulte Pierre d’Andlau, professeur à l’Université de Bâle lors de sa fondation, en 1460.
