Abstract:In Chapters 2 and 3 we discussed techniques for super-resolution, while in Chapter 4, we pointed out the limitations of the existing inpainting approaches and discussed an autoregressive modelbased te...In Chapters 2 and 3 we discussed techniques for super-resolution, while in Chapter 4, we pointed out the limitations of the existing inpainting approaches and discussed an autoregressive modelbased technique to overcome the limitations. Nevertheless, the technique proposed in Chapter 4 did not deal with the problem of finding good exemplar patches for better inpainting, and instead provided a solution to improve the inpainting using the pixel-neighborhood relationship estimated from the candidate exemplars. In this chapter we discuss a few inpainting methods that we attempted in a quest to find better exemplars for improving the inpainting results. Our observations from these attempts motivated us to use a dictionary learning and compressive sensing-based approach for improving inpainting.
