Upon receiving the request to vote from the commit coordinator, read-only sites release all their (read-only) locks, vote to commit and, with this optimization, opt out of the 2nd commit phase. The coordinator does not communicate with those sites in the 2nd commit phase. Unfortunately, there is a problem with this optimization if sites employ multi-version storage.Read More
