No machine can run without electricity, so it has become a requirement. Thus, in the years following the industrial revolution, the energy requirements have increased. The massive increase in energy use has generated "demand and supply" disorders. If fossil fuels are to meet this rising world energy demand, they will not be available for power generation in a few years. For a future generation, it is important to focus on renewable energy resources to meet energy requirements. In this chapter, the renewable energy scenario has been presented for sustainable development in India and the world by describing various supporting factors. Efforts have been made to summarize the energy framework, energy statics in India, and the world. This chapter also describes the various policies from the International Energy Agency (IEA) for sustainable energy development through renewable energy.
